Blick in die BibliothekBlick in die Bibliothek
The library of the Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland is open to the general public - to visitors interested in art as well as to scholars. The library is very much used by the staff of the exhibition hall and by scholars for research work. Since its inception in 1992, the holdings of the library have steadily increased, with 2.000 new copies each year. They currently amount to 43.000 copies of books, cd-roms, videos and magazines (June 2008).
The library's holdings are arranged systematically according to subjects and visitors are welcome to browse through the shelves of the reading room which holds the reference collection, various subjects (other than art), art and current periodicals. For reasons of space the complete holdings of the library's collection on the history of exhibitions and exhibition management as well as older (bound) periodicals are no longer open to the public but had to be put in stacks and must be ordered. These closed holdings are available on the same day when ordered before 11 a.m. Orders are welcome by mail, email or telephone.

In the reading room visitors can use PC work stations, a copy machine, video-cabines and a multimedia station for CD-ROM.
